Frequently asked questions

How do I merge videos and photos?

Tap New Project and select the videos and photos you want, in any mix. They are added to the timeline in the order you picked them. Tap Export to save the merged video. To add more clips later, use Add in the editor toolbar.

Why doesn't StitchCut ask for access to my photo library?

StitchCut uses the iOS photo picker, which only gives the app the items you select, so it doesn't need access to your whole library. When you export, iOS asks for permission to add photos. That lets StitchCut save the finished video to Photos without being able to read your library.

How do I trim, split, reorder or change the speed of a clip?

Tap a clip on the timeline to select it and the edit tools appear at the bottom:

Made a mistake? Use the undo and redo buttons.

How do I change how long a photo is shown?

Select the photo on the timeline and tap Duration. Photos can be shown for 1 to 10 seconds (3 seconds by default).

How do I add music?

Tap Audio in the editor toolbar and choose a music file from the Files app. You can set its volume, choose where the song starts, and loop it or cut it to the length of your video. The same screen sets the volume of your clips' original sound.

Songs from Apple Music are protected and can't be imported. Use audio files you own, saved to Files or iCloud Drive.

How do I make a video for Reels, TikTok, Shorts or YouTube?

Tap Canvas and choose 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, 16:9 for YouTube, or 1:1, 4:5 or 3:4 for feed posts. Clips are fitted to the canvas with black bars so nothing is cropped.

Where are my exported videos saved?

In the Photos app, under Recents. After exporting you can also tap Share to send the video straight to another app.

How do I remove the StitchCut watermark?

In the export sheet, tap Remove watermark (Watch a short ad). After the ad finishes, the watermark is removed from that project for good, including future re-exports. If no ad is available, try again in a moment. You can always export with the watermark.

Are my projects saved?

Yes. Projects are saved automatically as drafts on the home screen. Tap a draft to continue editing, or touch and hold it to rename, duplicate or delete it. Drafts are stored only on your device and are removed if you delete the app.

Does StitchCut upload my videos?

No. All editing and exporting happens on your iPhone or iPad. StitchCut has no servers and no account, and all features work in airplane mode. The only network use is for ads. See our Privacy Policy.

Why are there ads? Can I limit ad tracking?

Ads keep StitchCut free. To stop personalized ads based on tracking, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and turn off StitchCut. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can change your ad choices in the app's Settings → Privacy & ad choices.

How can I rate the app?

Open Settings → Rate StitchCut in the app. Thank you, reviews really help!
